Arookara Range fuchsia

Arookara Range fuchsia

Eremophila species Arookara Range

Family: Scrophulariaceae

Small shrub to 50cm high with silver foliage and lilac flowers - a truly striking colour combination. This plant has a long flowering period and usually responds well to rainfall and being irrigated whereby it produces an abundance of blooms.

An excellent home garden plant once established, although it can be tricky in the early stages, it is well worth persisting with. It naturally grows in rocky or gravelly soil on hills.

At this stage the plant does not have a specific name and it is only known by the name of the place where it was first found - the Arookara Range. This range is south east of Alice Springs. It was first collected by Peter Latz in 1992.

Where to find this plant at Alice Springs Desert Park

Look out for these stunning plants around the visitor centre courtyard and car park areas.
