MacDonnells desert fuschsia

Eremophila macdonnellii

Family: Scrophulariaceae

Dense shrub growing to 50cm high and up to 1m wide. The leaves are variable and can be greyish or bright green depending on the amount of hairs. The flowers are a brilliant deep purple.

It is found in the red sand dune country of Central Australia and the Simpson Desert.

Where to find this plant at Alice Springs Desert Park

Good examples of this beautiful plant can be seen in the visitor centre courtyard and in front of the salt pan in the Sand Country habitat.
