COVID-19 Health and Safety Precautions

Alice Springs Desert Park welcomes guests from Friday 29 May…

As we open our doors our goal is to keep you, our team and our animals safe and healthy. In preparation we have completed the COVID-19 Safety Plan and received our Statement of Commitment to ensure we provide a safe place for you to learn and explore.

To ensure we keep everyone safe, there will be regularly cleaning of amenities and public spaces throughout the day. Hand sanitisers will be located at key locations around the Park.

If you are unwell and showing respiratory systems including nasal symptoms, sore throat, tired, cough, loss of taste and smell or fever please seek medical advice and stay home.

What can I expect when I visit?

A new daily program with shorter presentations in outdoor spaces and Nocturnal House open 9am – 5.30pm.

Our free flight bird show, Nature Theatre will run daily at 10am and 3.30pm with a maximum capacity of 40 people.

The Changing Heart Big Screen Movie in the Cinema will recommence on 5 June with reduced capacity.

Latitude 23 Art and Food Co. Café will re-open Friday 29 May 2020.

When you visit, we ask you to…

  • Make cashless transactions for payment
  • Practice physical distancing of 1.5 metres from others
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, especially before and after eating
  • Only use the water bubblers to fill water bottles, do not drink from the bubbler.

Will entry fees be discounted?

Standard admission and membership fees will apply, discounts will not be offered. Our animals, plants and conservation projects are important to us and your admission and membership fees contributes to our success.

Will my Membership or Territorian Pass be extended?

Existing members and current Territorian Pass holders will receive a two month extension. A new card will be issued on your next visit to the Desert Park.

What should I bring when I visit?

We encourage you to bring your own hand sanitiser to use throughout your visit. Your own water bottle, walking shoes and sun protection are recommended. Water bottles and can be refilled at several locations around the Park.
